Tuesday, March 31: read Gardner, 13th ed. pp. 749-665; 12th ed. 689-703 in preparation for our discussion of the art of Caravaggio and Bernini. Views of David.

Thursday, April 2: we will continue our discussion of Bernini and then go on to discuss Flemish and Spanish Baroque Painting. Read Gardner, 13th ed., pp. 665-679; 12th ed. 708-717 in preparation. Review the page I have constructed discussing Velázquez's Las Meninas.

Thursday, April 16: We examine Dutch Painting. Read Gardner 13th ed. 679-691; 12th ed. pp. 718-732.

Tuesday, April 21: Third Quiz: will cover material on Slide Lists 11, 12, 13, and 14. We will be looking at the Art of Rembrandt.

Thursday, April 23: read Gardner, 13th ed. pp. 691-701 and 751-757; 12th ed. pp. 732-741 and 797-804 for our discussion of French Baroque Painting and Rococo Painting in France.

Tuesday, April 28: Read Gardner, 13th edition pp. 757-774 or 12th edition pp. 804-807 and 814-820, in preparation for our discussion of Neo-Classical Painting

Thursday, April 30: Romanticism Read Gardner, 13th edition, pp. 777-798 or 12th edition, pp. 824-843.

Tuesday, May 5: Fourth Quiz: will cover Slide Lists 16-20. The remainder of the class will be devoted to a review in preparation for the exam.

Optional Short Paper: As I announced in the syllabus, I am giving you the option of writing a short paper (between 3-5 typewritten pages). The paper can be focused on any of the questions for review that we have had since the beginning of the semester. This also includes questions for review on Slide Lists we haven't gotten to yet.

This is not a research project. I am expecting you to focus on the question for review. Pay careful attention to supporting your points with specific evidence and articulating the art historical significance of your points.

You are not required to do this short paper. This Optional Short Paper is due on Tuesday, May 5 at the latest.

Thursday, May 7: 2:00-4:30: Second Exam, IRC 4: For more information, see the page devoted to the format of the exam. Be advised that you will only accountable for material included on the review sheet that we have actually covered in class. I am hoping to a discussion of Romanticism, but we will have to see.
