Paris, Bibliothèque nationale, fr. 616:
Gaston Phoebus, Livre de la chasse
f. 13: the inside and outside borders are done by different decorators. The decision was apparently made to augment the decoration of the frontispiece by adding the outside border with the elaborate staff. The frontispiece of the Morgan Library copy of the Livre de la chasse has the same division of the inside and outside borders with again the outside border being done in a more elaborate form by a different decorator. This argues that both manuscripts were being made concurrently. |
Inside border of f. 13: attributed by Farber, 1980 as the V Master but here designated as the Fr. 616 Decorator.

f. 62v: identified by Farber, 1980 as the R Decorator but here identified as the A Master Assistant. In both fr. 616 and Oxford, Bodleian Library Douce 144 this decorator's work is closely associated with that of the A Master with both sharing the responsibility in decorating individual leaves. The repertoire used by this decorator is also close to that of the A Master.
