Salmon presents his manuscript to Charles VI. Pierre Salmon, Dialogues. BNF ms. fr. 23279, fol. 1 v. Salmon presents his book to Charles VI with Filippo Maria Visconti and John the Fearless in attendance. The representation of the Duke of Burgundy seems to be based on an official portrait. He wears a houppelande covered with his emblems of the carpenter's plane and level which were the Duke's devices between 1410 and 1413. The banderole associated with Salmon reads: viscera tua replebuntur volumine isto [Ezekiel 3:3: "And he said to me, 'Son of man, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.'"]

John adopted green, white, and black as his colors in 1411. Around his collar and waist appear the letters "MY" which are a reference to his wife Margaret of Bavaria and himself.
