PASTING an SPSS Output Table into the body of an EMAIL  (Updated: 7/30/07)

For some TABLES, using some email systems, it may be possible simply to copy and paste a table from the SPSS output screen into the body of an email.  For multiple tables, you may be able to sequentially copy and paste each of the individual tables, into the body of a single email.

The copy-and-paste method will not work in some email systems.  And it will not work for FIGURES (i.e., graphs) in almost any email system.

In some cases, the copy-and-paste method distorts the formatting of a table.  Thus, the recommended method for sending all tables and graphs to the spss220 account is outlined in Table 1.

                                Table 1.

1.  Bring up the SPSS OUTPUT SCREEN containing the tables and graphs you wish to email to the spss220 account.  Do a save as, giving the file a new name.

2.  Carefully DELETE all tables, graphs, and titles that you do NOT want to send.  This can be accomplished by right-clicking somewhere on the material you wish to delete, and then clicking on cut.

3.  Click on file on the menu bar, and then click on send mail.

4.  Type spss220@oneonta.edu in the SEND box.

The deed is done.

It all sounds complicated, but once you’ve done it a couple of times, it becomes easy and automatic, and can be accomplished in 1 or 2 minutes.
