- There are four English Language Arts (ELA) Standards. They are
- Standard 1 Students will read, write, listen, and speak for
information and understanding.
- Standard 2 Students will read, write, listen, and speak for literary
response and expression.
- Standard 3 Students will read, write, listen, and speak for critical
analysis and evaluation.
- Standard 4 Students will read, write, listen, and speak for social
interaction.
- For clusters of grade levels (PreK-1, 2-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12), specific
objectives are described in the areas of reading, writing, listening,
and speaking.
- There are also Early Literacy Competencies for PreK through third grade.
These are also categorized into reading, writing, listening, and
speaking. These competencies offer teachers further specificity as to
what early literacy skills students should know and be able to
