- Saturday, November 13, 2004 Oneonta State finished off the 2004 campaign with a 19th place finish out of 33 teams with 541 points. Junior Ryan Walter set an Oneonta State cross country best for 8,000 meters with a time of 26:28, eclipsing Brian Suozzo’s time of 26:53 from 2001. Walter placed 43rd overall, just missing the All-Regional team by 8 places en route to his personal best. Sophomore Nick Scalfone followed in 110th place with a personal best time of 27:33. Juniors Erik Canfield, Justin Cortright, Andy Wahila, and Joe Melanson crossed the line in 128th, 129th, 131st, and 140th, respectively with times of 27:51, 27:51, 27:52, and 28:07. For Cortright and Wahila, the times were both personal bests. Junior Ryan Walter continued to lead the way for the Red Dragons. He placed 12th overall in a time of 27:45 over the 8,000 meter course. By finishing in the top 15, Walter earned All-ECAC honors. Classmate Erik Canfield was next across the line. He placed 52nd in a time of 28:44. The Red Dragons packed it in right behind Canfield as senior Bryan Reles placed 58th, sophomore Nick Scalfone finished 59th, and junior Justin Cortright placed 62nd, in times of 28:51, 28:52, and 28:55, respectively. Junior Ryan Walter crossed the line first for O-State in 24th place in 27:14, good for a personal best over 8,000 meters. Senior Bryan Reles turned in his best race of the season in placing 41st in 28:11. From there, the Red Dragons packed in their scorers behind Reles in 42nd, 44th, and 48th. They finished tied for 5th with the host school with 162 points. They were 10 complete teams overall. Junior Ryan Walter finished 13th in a time of 27:37 over the 8km course. Juniors Mark Seigers and Andy Wahila had their best races of the year in placing 38th and 41st, respectively, in times of 29:06 and 29:15. Sophomore Nick Scalfone placed 89th in a time of 28:51, while junior Justin Cortright followed in 95th place in a time of 28:57. Senior Bryan Reles and junior Erik Canfield had their best races of the year to finish the scoring for O-State. Junior Ryan Walter led the way, breaking into the top 10 with a time of 26:13 over the flood shortened 8,000 meter course. Sophomore Nick Scalfone and junior Joe Melanson followed in 32nd and 34th with times of 27:11 and 27:20, respectively. Junior Justin Cortright turned in the race of the day, stepping up into the 4th man role, placing 44th in a time of 27:48. Junior Andy Wahila rounded out the scoring for O-State in 45th place in a time of 27:51. "Despite the floods and the 8th place finish, we showed solid signs of improvement today," commented head coach Matt LoPiccolo. "We're learning to race.
