Juniors Ryan Wells and Nick Scalfone led the way in placing 55th and 92nd, respectively in times of 27:03 and 27:35. Freshman Marty Nicholson was next in for O-State in 102nd place in a time of 27:47. Junior Ryan Wells out-kicked a Williams College runner to cross the line in 2nd place overall. His runner-up finish claimed All-ECAC honors and is the highest finish ever by a Red Dragon at the ECAC Championships. His time of 25:48 for 8,000 meters also broke his own school record of 25:55, set 2 weeks ago in Plattsburgh at the SUNYAC Championships. Freshman Marty Nicholson turned in the race of his life in placing 29th in a personal best time of 26:35. Senior Andy Wahila had an equally impressive run by placing 51st in a time of 27:00, which beat his previous personal best by 52 seconds. Junior Nick Scalfone was next for O-State in 64th place in a time of 27:12. Junior Ryan Wells placed 9th overall to earn 2nd team All-Conference honors and in the process became the highest placing Oneonta male at the SUNYAC Championships since 1989 when Tim Kelly placed 6th. His time of 25:55 also broke the school record of 26:28 he shared with Ryan Walter. Wells classmate Nick Scalfone was next in for O-State in 39th place in a time of 27:15. Senior Mark Seigers was right behind in 45th place. His time of 27:28 was a personal best. Junior Ryan Wells tied Ryan Walter's school record (set last year at NCAA Regional's at St. Lawrence University) with a 26:28 clocking. Wells moved up the entire race to finish in 6th place, running his last mile in under 4:40. Freshman Marty Nicholson was next in 21st place with a time of 27:29. The next three O-State scorers set PR's as junior Matt Durkin placed 26th in 27:41, senior Mark Seigers placed 29th in 27:44, and junior Rick DeCarr placed 32nd in 27:46. "We were without two of our top guys," said head coach Matt LoPiccolo. Freshman Marty Nicholson ran extremely well in making his 8,000 meter course debut. He placed 203rd in a time of 27:22, which is the fastest freshman time in school history. Senior Ryan Walter was next in for O-State in 283rd with a time of 28:15. Classmate Nick Scalfone was 2nd for the Red Dragons in 29th with a time of 20:41 while senior Andy Wahila was right on his heels in 30th place in 20:43. Freshman Marty Nicholson was next in 38th in a time of 20:55 while senior Ryan Walter rounded out the scoring in 41st place with a time of 21:00. "We are further along than we ever have been at this point in the season," commented head coach Matt LoPiccolo. The Red Dragons placed 2nd with 57 points, behind the Cardinals from up north. Senior Andy Wahila was the first Red Dragon across the line. He placed 9th in a time of 21:57 over the 6,000 meter Fortin Park course. "We used the meet as an intensive training session," commented head coach Matt LoPiccolo.
