Stevens makes it to NCAA's!
Oneonta State’s Kelly Stevens has been accepted into this weekend’s NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships held at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.  Her first round of the 1,500 meters will go off at 5:20pm on Thursday with the finals set for 2:00pm on Saturday.  Stevens qualified for the meet with a time of 4:41.86 at the ECAC Championships held last Friday at MIT.  She is currently ranked 19th in the country.  Being the first ever year of NCAA competition for the women’s track & field program at Oneonta, Stevens is the first athlete to qualify and compete at the NCAA Championships.  She was the anchor leg of the distance medley relay team along with Rose Velan, Ashlee Robertson, and Jen Macri, that provisionally qualified, but did not compete at the Indoor NCAA Championships this past winter.  Now, Stevens gets her shot to make more history at the Outdoor Championships.  “I am extremely excited at the opportunity for Kelly,” commented head coach Matt LoPiccolo.  “She has developed so quickly as a runner.  I thought she would have a realistic shot at this next year, but to do it now is absolutely amazing!”  This is only Stevens’ second year in competitive track & field.  Full meet information is available at http://web.stlawu.edu/sports/03ncaatrack/ncaatrack.htm and ranked performance lists are at http://www.raceberryjam.com/NCODWENT.HTM.
