ncaa ATLANTIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP @ The College of New jersey

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2002 The Red Dragons completed the 2002 season at the Atlantic Region Championship at Washington Crossing State Park near Trenton, NJ. Running her usual solid race was freshman Maria Compson, who placed 102nd in a time of 26:30 over the sloppy 6 km course. Also running a good race was junior Abby McQueeney Penamonte, who placed 133rd in a time of 27:36. 102nd –

ECAC Championship @ Williams College - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2002 Four Red Dragons competed over the new 6 km distance. Running well, once again, was freshman Maria Compson. She had her best race of the year and placed 67th in a time of 26:17. Also having a great race was freshman Stephanie Profenna, who placed 160th in a time of 28:40. 67th –

SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP @ LAKE ERIE STATE PARK - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2002
Oneonta State ran incomplete due to injuries to some Red Dragon runners.
Freshman Maria Compson (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) once again paced
Oneonta State as she finished 53rd overall in a time of 21:26.
Classmate Stephanie Profenna (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) finished 80th
overall in a time of 23:29.
HAMILTON COLLEGE INVITATIONAL - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2002 The Red Dragons finished 14th out of 15
teams with 402 points. They were without juniors Jessica Tylutki and
Christy Haynes, who were resting injuries in preparation for the SUNYAC
Championship in two weeks. Freshman Maria Compson once again led the way
finishing the soggy 3 mile course in 20:26, good for 61st place.
ONEONTA STATE INVITATIONAL - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2002 The Red Dragons finished 4th with 56 points in a hotly contested race between the top 4 teams. SUNY Potsdam sophomore Jodie Schoppmann (Levittown, NY) paced the field from the gun and eventually pulled away from the rest of the field to win the four kilometer race by 27 seconds in a time of 16:21. Schoppmann had company up front as teammate, junior Jessica Mattoon (Plattsburgh, NY) finished third in a time of 17:11. Sandwiched between the two Potsdam runners was Plattsburgh’s top runner, senior Mary Kelso. Kelso’s second place finish helped the Cardinals to the team title with 44 points. Potsdam and Hartwick both finished with 55 points, but Potsdam was awarded the second place spot on average time. Freshman Maria Compson (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) was the top Red Dragon finisher in sixth place with a time of 17:42. "I was extremely happy with our performance today," commented Head Coach, Matt LoPiccolo. "It was a real battle out there today. Every girl ran so tough and squeezed out every point possible, we just fell a couple short today. I can ask nothing more." Oneonta State was without 2 of their top 6, who were out with injuries.

CODFISH BOWL @ FRANKLIN PARK - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2002 Oneonta State finished 10th place out of 13 teams with 252 points. They were led again by freshman Maria Compson, who finished in 44th place with a time of 21:38. Juniors Christy Haynes, Jessica Tylutki, and Abby McQueeney Penamonte, the middle three runners, displayed great teamwork throughout the race and finished in 57th, 58th, and 60th, respectively.
