Welcome Message

           Dr. Barbara J. Stoehr

        Assistant Dean of Education

The College at Oneonta's long history in teacher education continues through its commitment to preparing teachers for the public schools of New York and was validated in October 2000 when awarded accre ditation by the National Council of Teacher Education.  This legacy is strong and equal to its commitment to provide a well-rounded liberal education to its students.

In Spring 2000, all undergraduate programs were reviewed and registered by the New York State Education Department to ensure compliance with the most current teacher education regulations.  All graduate programs will undergo the same review and registration in Spring 2001.

Please use this opportunity to "get to know" the Division of Education.  You will learn about the conceptual framework model Educational Professionals Committed to the Future adopted by the Division of Education.  Central to this model are the four themes which guide the program.  These themes are interwoven throughout the students' education program.

The Division of Education works on a daily basis to deliver a program which maintains integrity to the beliefs and principles described in the model Educational Professional Committed to the Future.
