ANTH 333 Data and Program Files

A number of course assignments will use spreadsheets files. These files are provided on this page in Microsoft Excel (*.xls) format.

Right-click the file name and choose 'Save Target As' from the menu to save the file to your computer (or, if you are using a college computer, save the file to your P: drive).

Instructions for downloading the MICRO program

MICRO is a population genetics simulation program that I wrote and that you will need to use for one of your take-home assignments. The program runs under Windows XP (as well as Windows 95/98/ME, and 2000). Although you can run the program from the computers in Fitzelle 306, you might find it more useful to install a copy of the program on your own personal computer using the following instructions:

  1. Access the program by clicking here.
  2. When the 'File Download' box appears, click 'Save' to save to your computer.
  3. The saved file is a ZIP file. You can open this file automatically in Windows XP; for other versions, you will need an "unzipping" program such as WinZip.
  4. Run the program 'setup.exe' and follow the instructions.
  5. See me if you are having problems.
