Introduction to Computer Art
Vector Images | Poster
- In Illustrator, Create one document with the following
dimensions: 10x21" (File>New>type the right dimensions)
-
Design a poster that will be folded in three seven inch
parts (use guides to divide you paper in three equal parts).
- The poster should represent the Fine Arts building that
we are in.
- Create top view diagrams for each floor, and identify the
studios where specific instruction takes place (i.e.. Show where the
painting studio is), and use text, graphics and placed images (File>Place)
to mark each room.
Only create diagrams for the Art part of the building (do not include
the music or theater areas), and only represent the 2nd and 3d floors.
DO include the gallery in your plans.
Be creative with how you represent each area (use images from art history
along with signs), and use text minimally and creatively.
Do your own research of the building and try to design it with aesthetics
in mind. Don't worry if it is not accurate in proportion (or in any
other way). It is "artistic Design" that we are after.
We will print our creations on the large printer.
What is Due:
- one Illustrator
file.
- one TIFF file
Create a folder named "yourlastname
Final As# (the number of this assignment), and place your final images in
this folder when you are done.(Only what is inside this folder will be graded)
Think of the little diagrams you get when you visit a museum. How are they
able to pack a great amount of information on a very tight space.
To use Photographs in your poster, use the File>Place
command (do not use File>Open)
Do not use Photoshop to create this poster. Only use Photoshop if you
have to manipulate an image before you place it in your Illustrator file.
Take advantage of the unique text capabilities of Illustrator, and
create type that contributes to the information and the aesthetics of the work.
Alter the outlines of the images (do not leave them square if you can
help it) You can do this in Illustrator by using masks.
Think that your poster might be sent out to thousands of people to showcase
our art facilities.
