This travel/study course is sponsored by the Continuing Education Office of SUNY Oneonta and Associate Professor of Art, Thomás Sakoulas.

Thomás is a native of Greece, and an artist whose work in stone is inspired by Ancient Greek Art. He has studied the history, styles, and technique of Greek Art and is the author of Ancient-Greece.org.

Thomás has photographed the landscapes and ancient artifacts of Greece extensively and his photographs have been published in magazines and textbooks. He is the author of GreekLandscapes.com

The tour is organized and is subject to the terms and conditions of EF College Study Tours.

Requirements

All participants must have professor Sakoulas' permission to enroll in this tour, and must enroll for the credit classes available.

Participants must complete all the mandatory forms of the SUNY Oneonta Study-Abroad Programs and must hold a valid passport and all required visas.

All participants must submit a completed SUNY Overseas Academic Program Student Health Information Form (completed by a physician), and consent to a background check prior to being issued a plane ticket.

  3. Visit the Continuing Education office and fill out the SUNY Study Abroad forms by March 1, 2011.
    The packet includes the Student Health Information Form which needs to be completed by the Health Center or your physician, and a background check consent form.

  4. Register for the college courses
    Course Registration begins March , 2011 in the Continuing Education office

Fees and Expenses:

Participants pay Tuition + Travel Fees + Insurance + Pocket money
  1. Tuition for each class (3 credits):

    Undergraduate in-state residents: $623.55*
    Undergraduate out-of-state residents: $1610.55*

  2. Travel fees* : $3701 (without the EF Tours Insurance), or $3843 (including the EF Tours Insurance)
    Keep in mind that insurance is mandatory - read the paragraph on insurance below.

    The travel fees cover:
    Round-trip airfare • 7 overnight stays in hotels with private bathrooms; plus 1 night ferry accommodations, 3 nights cabin accommodations during the cruise • complete European breakfast • 5 dinners ( plus 3 meals daily during cruise extension) • full-time bilingual Tour Director • 6 sightseeing tours led by licensed local guides (Vatican, City, Rome, Florence, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Delphi, Athens) • 2 walking tours (Rome, Athens) • 8 visits to special attractions: (Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, Colosseum, Tour of Vesuvius, Roman ruins at Pompeii, Delphi site, Delphi Museum, Acropolis) • 3-day Greek island cruise with optional excursions offered by the cruise line*

  3. Insurance/Repatriation/Medical Evaluation:
    approximately $45*

    There are three options for insurance. You may purchase the SUNY travel insurance, the EFtours insurance, or you may waive the insurance requirement if you are already covered.

    The SUNY travel insurance (aprox. $45) is recommended for all participants. SUNY travel insurance will be paid with the tuition.

    EFtours, our travel agent, provides travel insurance options as well starting at $65. Read the terms of both insurance options before you purchase your travel insurance.

    Participants who are covered by their own insurance can waive this requirement by completing the appropriate forms and providing proof of adequate insurance. In this case, participants pay a Repatriation/Medical Evaluation fee only which is approximately $5 (proof of adequate health insurance coverage is required to purchase this option).
  4. Spending Money
    Students should bring a $500 minimum for miscellaneous expenses (food, optional excursions, tips to guides, entrance to museums etc.).

The travel fees include
departure fees. Departure fees are subject to change. These are the current departure fees as of today. They include taxes and surcharges levied by governments and airlines and are subject to change. These fees do not include any applicable baggage-handling fees imposed by the airline. Your departure fees are finalized 30-50 days prior to departure.

Alternative Tours
EFtour's conditions require that we define two alternative tours we can join in case our first choice is not available. The final decision will be made by EFtours in February 2011.
