Incorrecto, lo siento.

Both tenses are used for actions in the past, but they describe the action differently.

PRETERITE PAST TENSE is used for:

Finite, one-time actions in the past.
¿Sobre qué escribió Ud. su tesis doctoral? (What did you write your doctoral dissertation about?)
La escribí sobre Rosalía de Castro. (I wrote it about Rosalía de Castro.)
Actions that occurred over a specified amount of time in the past.
¿Cuánto tiempo vivió Ud. en Honduras? (How long did you live in Honduras?)
Viví en Honduras por dos años. (I lived in Honduras for two years.)
The moment of beginning or ending a condition or continuous action.
Mi cabeza empezó a dolerme. (My head began to hurt.)
La terminé finalmente. (I finally finished it.)

IMPERFECT PAST TENSE is used for:

Actions that were ongoing or continuous at the moment described (whether they're done now or not).
¿Dónde vivía Ud. antes de aquí? (Where did you live before here?)
Yo vivía en Statesboro, GA. (I lived in Statesboro, GA).
Habitual or repeated actions.
De niña, ¿iba Ud. a la escuela en coche? (As a child, did you go to school in a car?)
Yo caminaba cinco millas a la escuela en la nieve hasta la cintura, descalza. (I used to walk five miles to school in snow up to my waist, barefoot.)

GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN!
