Course Description:  This course will investigate the many aspects of physical fitness and its relationship to health.  This will be accomplished by a study of human anatomy, exercise physiology, exercise testing, and nutrition. Upon course conclusion, the student will be able to design their own exercise program and evaluate their progress.  The course also studies drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and their effects on the body.

Requirements:

 

    3 Written Exams             50 points each

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL QUIZES AND EXAMS- IF YOU ARE ABSENT YOU MUST HAVE A DOCTORS EXCUSE OR CONTACT ME ASAP.

 

LABS will involve material discussed in class.  Lab assignments will be due 1 WEEK after the lab.   Attendance is mandatory for all labs. You must dress appropriately for all labs (warm-ups, sneakers, etc)

 

ANY LATE WORK WILL RECEIVE A 5 POINT DEDUCTION!!

 

WRITTEN PROJECT (60 PTS)

 

PART 1(30 pts): You will be required to write a research paper on a specific topic related to this class.  The paper should be research oriented and should be a minimum of 5 pages in length. A short presentation on your topic will also be evaluated at the end of the

semester.  Details will be discussed in class.

 

PART 2 (30 pts): You will be required to design a workout program that will include all variables of fitness discussed in class.

Additionally, you will monitor your progress by assessment labs and workout logs.  You get points to exercise!!!!
