o My searching reveals only one existing mailing list for migrant educators. It is no surprise that it is r un by the forward thinking migrant educators of Washington state. Subscribe and lend an ear to the discussion and maybe a hand to overcoming some of the challenges migrant educators face daily. In the left frame scroll down to listservs and click on it. In the list of listservs, search for wa-migrant to jump right to the section that refers to the migrant mailing list.

o The Fight in the Fields: César Chávez and the Farmworkers' Struggle - Vi deo due out in September

o The Office of Migrant Education has commissioned the creation of a site with the BEST Migrant Education Resources across the US as selected by Frank Odasz. This site was created recently and is very up to date.

oThe Office of Migrant Education has a site with lots of information about Migrant Education across the US

o The United States Department of Labor's Employment and Training Admininstration maintains a page of links for Seasonal and Migrant Farmworkers

o American Farmworker's Homepage - created and maintained by the National Center for Farmworker Health

o The Anchor School Project is an exciting edu cational initiative involving migrant families moving between Florida and the Carolinas.

oThe Kentucky Migrant Technology Project has a large collection of course materials online, in both Spanish and English.

o The National PASS Center Web Site: PASS stands for Portable Assisted Study Sequence and PASS courses can help students complete credits after a course interrupting move or after leaving school altogether.

o An innovative program through Arizona State University, Conexiones, puts technology in the hands of migrant students. New to us in November, 1997

oState of California Migrant Education Program. This site is rich with resources. Among other things it lists all the programs in the state with contact information and links to their web pages.

o Florida's University of South Florida hosts A Center For the Study of Migrant Education

o Jefferson County, Colorado, Migrant Education Program

o Live Oak Migrant Education Program, Statesboro, Georgia

o Louisiana has a WWW page that lists an 800 number to access the Migrant Education Program

o Minnesota Migrant Education Resource Center - Fantastic Resources - Very Well Organized</ P>

o The State of Nebraska has a web page with lots of migrant education information

o New Hampshire has a web page

o New York State Migrant Education Outreach Programs and Support Services.

o The BOCES Geneseo, NY Migrant Education Project sponsors programs and scholarships.

o The State University of New York's New Paltz Campus offers a Migrant/Special Education Training Program leading to a MS degreee.

o New York - SUNY New Paltz has created a page that shares the situation of the Garcia family as they move between New York and Florida to work the crops, in their own words, with wonderful photos.

o Pennsylvania Migrant Education - overview, definitions, site contact people and phone numbers

o University of Texas - EIMC: A Distance Education Center that offers special programs for migrant students. EIMC has won awards for their programs. Look under the heading "High School Credit" to find the program for migrant students.

o Washington State University High School Equivalency Program (HEP)

o Novela Health Education, a program of the Northwest Communities Education Center, pioneering the development of a line of fotonovelas, videos and radio dramas in Spanish and English that address a number of topics important to migrant farmworkers including Pesticide Safety, Prenatal Care, HIV/AIDS, and many more topics.

The National Center for Bilingual Education offers state by state information about state education departments, teacher certif ication, and laws dealing with bilingual education.
