I was looking around trying to find out what the snow pack was like and I figured some government agency must be monitoring snow pack - since it has a huge influence on spring flooding, etc.

I found the following site:

http://www.nohrsc.nws.gov/experimental_products/snow_model/index.html

If you go to it you will see a page like the following graphic. Click on the

US-E (United States - Eastern) symbol and get a graphic like the one below this one.

And you will be treated to a really neat view of the current snow cover of New York and New England. If you are rusty on your cm (centimeters) to inches conversion think of thinks this way - 100 cm = 1 meter = 39.37 inches = good sledding or good skiing - whatever your pleasure is.

And you can see that Stillwater Reservoir during mid-January 2003 is right in the thick of the good stuff.

Happy Trails!
