About the Authors

Robert B. Carson is professor emeritus with the Division of Economics and Business at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. He pioneered the unique approach of teaching economics by addressing economic issues from the Conservative, Liberal, and Radical positions with the first issue of Economic Issues Today in 1978. He has authored twelve books on economics, including What Economists Know (1990), which has been reprinted abroad in Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic editions. Dr. Carson is an expert on the public regulation of American railroads.

 

 

 

 

 

Wade L. Thomas is a professor of economics and associate provost for institutional effectiveness at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. He has served as president and vice president of the New York State Economics Association, has published numerous journal articles, and is experienced in the use of educational technology and webpage creation. He coauthored The American Economy: Contemporary Problems and Analysis (1993) with Robert B. Carson and The American Economy: How It Works and How It Doesn't (2011) also with Robert B. Carson.

 

 

 

 

 

Jason Hecht is professor of finance in the School of Administration and Business at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He has published in both academic and business publications including the Journal of Economics and Business and the Cambridge Journal of Economics. He previously worked as an economist in the property-liability insurance industry for many years and continues to consult for this industry.
