New grading requirement as described in class 10/21/04:

The following items that we have discussed repeatedly in class are now expected to be correct. Failure to use these correctly will now result in a grade of “E” or “unacceptable” in the case of a homework assignment, or a one-grade penalty for each error in the case of an individual or group paper.

1. Citations must be in correct format, as described in class and in the text.
2. References must be in correct format, as described in class and in the text.
3. Whenever citations and/or references are required or used:
(a) each item cited in the body of your work must be included in the Reference section,
and
(b) each item that appears in your Reference section must be cited at least once in the body of your work.
4. Apostrophes must be used where required and must be used correctly.
5. The words “than” and “then” must be used correctly; in particular, comparison of groups must use the word “than,” as in “The scores were higher for Group 1 than for Group 2.
6. The words “affect” and “effect” must be used correctly.
