Below are the points earned out of 5 possible points allocated for Taking Sides presentations as indicated on the syllabus. I began by assigning 4.0 points to all individuals who participated in an acceptable group presentation. I then assigned additional points as follows:

+0.4 points for top 3 groups according to class evaluations.

+0.2 points for next 3 groups according to average class evaluations.

+0.4 points for groups that gave high quality presentations according to my own evaluation.

+0.4 points for specific individuals for high quality presentations and/or preparation according to my own evaluation.

In a very small number of cases, there were other adjustments based on my own evaluation of the quality of presentation, preparation, or group participation.

You will note that it was possible by this procedure for some students to receive slightly more points than the maximum indicated in the syllabus. This can be considered a bonus for high quality work.
