Psyc 294: Homework #3
Title: Guidelines for groups
Date assigned: Thursday 1/27/05
Date due: Tuesday 2/1/05
Minimum pages: 1
Maximum pages: 1-2

Background:

I gave this assignment verbally in class today, 1/27, but I wanted to give you all the links to the existing handouts on my website

Description:

The initial assignment was this: Write up at least three guidelines for groups in making group presentations, using the general goal that group presentations should be both INTERESTING and INFORMATIVE.

You may satisfy this assignment with a single sheet of paper and three written guidelines. You also may expand this with additional material, such as more than three guidelines, or written comments expanding on any or all of your guidelines.

The following links to existing material may be helpful:

Guidelilnes for effective group work. This is a set of guidelines created by a class a while back that talks about how the individuals in a group should work together. It may be useful for group members to read this handout and discuss the mutual expectations of the group members.

Group Presentation Guidelines. This is a set of guidelines I used in a different class a couple of years ago. It gives a much more structured set of requirements than we will use here (for example, groups all had to give a homework assignment to the class in preparation for their presentation). I do not want to give such a rigid structure for the presentations in this class, but the handout may nevertheless contain useful ideas.

The handout is available as

Group Presentation Guidelines in Microsoft Word, OR

Group Presentation Guidelines in pdf format.

Also available are forms for:

Group evaluation by audience member

Group evaluation by group member (group members evaluate their own group)

Group evaluation of contributions of group members
