Start each of the sections of your paper with the section headings shown above. Put the following information in the sections.

Reading. Describe a selection from the reading that was particularly meaningful to you. It could be a long section, such as part of a chapter. It could also be a brief section, such as a particular paragraph or a single sentence. Either describe it very briefly (just a couple of sentences), or, if it is just one sentence, quote the sentence. Include the page number(s) where the selection occurs.

Connection. Describe in one or two sentences how this section relates to something in the text or lectures. Include the page number in the text that you are referring to. In order to allow you to choose a selection that does not especially relate to the text or lectures, you can leave this section blank for ONE of your two selections.

Reflection. Describe in a few sentences why that selection has particular meaning for you. Be prepared to expand on this in class.

Reviewer comments. Leave empty space (a couple of inches) in this section, in order for other students in class to read and write a response to what you have written.
