ESOP FAQ’s

1)      If I attend Oneonta, will I be able to take courses for which my ESOP course is a prerequisite?

Yes. As an example, if you earn credit through ESOP for GEOL 120, you will be able to enroll in GEOL 220, Historical Geology, for which GEOL 120 is a prerequisite.

2)      Will I have to pay tuition for my ESOP course?

No, ESOP students do not pay tuition, which would amount to $568.00 per 3 credit course. Instead, they pay the ESOP fee of only $100.00 for a 3 credit course.

3)      What if I decide to go to a different college after I’ve taken an ESOP course?

Your ESOP course is the same as any other course taught at Oneonta. Therefore, you can apply for transfer credit at your college for your ESOP course. You will have to fill out forms to request the transfer credit and you will have to request that Oneonta send an official transcript, which documents your credit to your new college. There is a small fee for requesting a transcript.

4)      If my ESOP course carries General Education credit, does that credit count at any SUNY?

Yes, with the new General Education requirements mandated by the SUNY Board of Trustees, General Education credit from any SUNY institution is recognized by all SUNY institutions.
