Terms and Names

Ka- generally translated "life force." The part of a human that survives the death of the physical body.

Mastaba- a rectangular Egyptian tomb with a flat roof and sloping walls covering a subterranean burial chamber. The term is derived from the Arabic word for "bench."

Serdab- a compartment in an Egyptian tomb which contained the ka statue of the deceased.

Heb-Sed festival- a traditional ceremony during which the king renewed his kingship.
