Coastal Zone Management

This course is developed based on my graduate studies. Coastal Zone Management is my primary area of expertise. In this course is mostly a physical geography course, but we cannot examine the landscape exclusive of culture. Locations such as the USA Gulf Coast, The Netherlands coast, and the Oregon Coast are covered.

Disaster Geographies

This course is a service-learning course which includes both a seminar style course and a field course to a disaster site such as New Orleans or the NJ shore. Students learn about the complexities of disasters. Social justice issues and environmental problems are stressed.

Geography of Urban Environments

The urban American landscape is examined in this course using primarily case studies to understand the complexties of the human-environment interface.

Tourism Geography and Planning

Global tourism trends and planning are examined in this course. Case studies from around the world incorporate discussions about topics such as ecotourism, heritage tourism, gambling tourism, and urban tourism. Particular attention to sustainability and environmental problems.Read More

Remote Sensing: Aerial Photography and Airborne Missions

Students are introduced to aerial photographic techniques and other related forms of Remote Sensing. Includes lecture, labs, and photo flights. Basic math skills are helpful (geometry and algebra).

Introductory Geography

Geography isn't just about capitals, names of rivers, and maps! Geography is so much more. Character of place is covered using case studies and discussion of geographic concepts. The 3 plus 1 main areas of geography are covered (Physical, Cultural, Environmental, plus Tools).
