Information and any changes regarding labs will be found on this page. A number of files are available for your use and are to be used to prepare for labs and as a general resource. In the intermediate lab you will perform six experiments and an introductory lab exercise on error analysis. All students will do this lab individually, however data may be colleted in groups of two. The data collected for the error analysis lab will involve three different methods used to determine the acceleration of gravity. Each method will be analyzed using error analysis techniques found in "Error Analysis" link below.
After completion of the error analysis exercise you will perform six additional laboratory exorcizes:
Determination of the Speed of Light
The Millikan Oil Drop Experiment
Charge to Mass Ratio Experiment
The Hydrogen Spectrum
Determination of Planck's Constant via Photoelectric effect
And an as yet undetermined experiment.
A lab manual with background information is available to you in hard copy format. The same manual is available on line in pdf and doc format along with other resource materials that you may find useful. The Lab Manual in document format has a number of internal links that make it easier to navigate, which is a feature you may find useful. There are also a number of resources in Links for Physics and Apparatus that you may also find useful particularly those that deal with error analysis.
