Cheyenne Pommelle

Her research

Cheyenne Pommelle is currently a Junior majoring in Biology at SUNY Oneonta. Coming from her hometown of Manhattan in New York City was a big transition. But, she has made a new home for herself at the Biological Field Station with the Reyda lab. Fall 2016 to Spring 2017, Cheyenne worked on confirming the presence of an invasive tapeworm species commonly known as the Asian fish tapeworm. This semester, she is diving into the realm of Acanthocephala, the thorny headed worms. She will be working along Byron Peregrim to expand on the knowledge of three Neoechinorhynchus species, N. Crustatis, N. Crassus & N. Venustus. In Spring 2018, Cheyenne, Byron and Dr. Florian Reyda will go to Seattle, Washington to collect specimens from the site of the original study of the Neoechinorhynchus species mentioned above. Looking forward, Cheyenne’s goal is to matriculate into veterinary school two years from now.
